Welcome Message

Optics Congress 2018 welcomes you to the city of Atlanta, USA!!!

Optics congress 2018 welcomes attendees, presenters, and exhibitors from all over the world to Toronto, Canada. We are delighted to invite you all to attend and register for the “International Congress on Optics, Lasers and Photonics” which is going to be held during July 16-17 in Atlanta, USA.

Optics is the outlet of physics that involves the properties of light and behaviour, including its interactions with matter and also the construction of instruments that use or perceive it. It usually describes the behaviour of ultraviolet, infrared and visible light. As the light is an electromagnetic wave such as microwaves, radio waves exhibit similar properties and X-rays.

Optical phenomena can be accounted for using classical electromagnetic explanation of light. The complete electromagnetic descriptions of light are often difficult to apply in practice. Practical optics is usually done using simplified models. Physical optics is a more comprehensive model of light, which includes wave effects such as diffraction and interference that cannot be accounted for in geometric optics. The most common of these, geometric optics, treats light as a collection of rays that travel in straight lines and bend when they pass through or reflect from surfaces. Historically, the ray-based model of light was developed first, followed by the wave model of light. Progress in electromagnetic theory in the 19th century led to the discovery that light waves were in fact electromagnetic radiation.

A laser is a device which emits light through a process of optical amplification that is based on the stimulated emission of the electromagnetic radiation. The term "laser" is an acronym for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation". The first laser was erected in 1960 at Hughes Research Laboratories by Theodore H. Maiman, which is based on theoretical work by Arthur Leonard Schawlow and Charles Hard Townes. A laser differs from other sources of light in where it emits light coherently. Spatial coherence allows the laser to be focused at a tight spot by enabling applications such as lithography and laser cutting. Spatial coherence allows a laser beam to stay narrow over a great distances collimation by enabling applications such as laser pointers. Temporal coherence can be used to produce the pulses of light as short as a femtosecond. Lasers can also have high temporal coherence which allows them to emit light with a very narrow spectrum i.e. they can emit a single colour of light.

Photonics is the discipline of light i.e. photon detection, generation, and manipulation through emission, modulation, transmission, switching, signal processing, amplification, and sensing or detection. However covering all light's technical applications over the spectrum, most of the photonic applications are in the range of visible and near to infrared light. The term photonics developed as an extension of the first practical semiconductor light emitters developed in the early 1960s and the optical fibres developed in the 1970s. It is a modulation strategy utilized in neuroscience that uses a blend of the procedures from optics and hereditary qualities to control and screen the exercises of individual neurons in living tissue. photonic advancements empower the scaling down and ultra-scaling down of photonic gadgets and frameworks or sub-frameworks that guarantee to convey new and upgraded capacities to optical correspondences, physical, synthetic and bio-detecting, optical capacity, optical imaging and shows.

Market Analysis

Market Analysis of Optics:

Increasing demand for high speed internet services is expected to be the key growth factor for the optics market. Optics is used for digital transmission of data and is increasingly being used in place of metal wires owing to its efficiency and high transmission capacity. Optic cables provide an effective transmission as they are less affected by external and internal interferences. The transmission can be done by single and multi-mode fibre depending on the communication requirements. Optics support remote sensing technique, which enables data transmission without any physical medium. This technique helps to communicate with even remote and inaccessible regions. Increasing data security concerns and use of alternative raw materials is expected to drive the optics market. High manufacturing and installation cost involved may hinder market growth over the forecast period. Complex manufacturing process and depleting raw material used for the process is also expected to restrict market growth over the next six years. Optics are used in various applications including telecommunication, oil & gas, utilities, military & aerospace, private data networks, biomedical and cable television etc. Telecommunication is expected to be the key application segment over the forecast period owing to its use in desktop computers to global networks. North America and Europe are expected to grow steadily over the forecast period. Asia Pacific is estimated to grow at a considerable rate on account of increasing market demand in application segments. Increasing use of new telecommunication technologies such as FTTx applications and 4G mobile usages is expected to be the key growth factor for the region. Some key players in the optics market include Corning Inc., Optical Cable Corporation, Fujikura Limited, Sterlite Technologies Limited, Finolex Cable Limited, Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics Limited, Australian Fibre optic Communications (AFC), and Yangtze Optical Fibre & Cable Co. Ltd. High initial investment and maintenance cost is expected to restrict entry of new players in the optics market.

Market Analysis of Lasers:

According to the new market research report "Laser Technology Market by Type (Solid, Liquid, Gas), Application (Optical Communication, Laser Processing), and Vertical and Geography - Analysis & Forecast to 2022", the laser technology market is expected to reach USD 14.67 Billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 5.33% between 2016 and 2022. The ability of this technology to offer significantly high precision, flexibility, and productivity in the material processing application than other traditional approaches is leading to growing preference for laser technology-based material processing. This is one of the major drivers for the laser technology market. Moreover, the widening scope of laser technology in various verticals including medical, aerospace & defense, research, semiconductor & electronics, and telecommunications among others is further driving the growth of the above said market. The medical vertical is expected to play a key role in the laser technology market and grow at the highest rate during the forecast period. This growth is a result of the increasing adoption of lasers for laser vision correction, confocal microscopy, optogenetics, enhanced MRI, and dermatological treatment among many others. This technology is also widely being used in the manufacturing of medical tools and systems as it helps in meeting high-quality requirements and offers clean surfaces which are free from any material residue. The major players in this market include Coherent, Inc. (U.S.), Trumpf Group (Germany), IPG Photonics Corp. (U.S.), ROFIN-SINAR Technologies, Inc. (U.S.), Newport Corp. (U.S.), Jenoptik AG (Germany), Lumentum Holdings, Inc. (U.S.), GSI Group, Inc. (U.S.), Hans Laser Technology Industry Group Co., Ltd. (China), and Epilog Laser (U.S.) among others.
